A large percentage from our business income was actually spent in buying foods. Aside from the 3 of us in the family, we also have some church workers and they are also included in our food budget. We usually spend around $7 a day for the viand alone. I have calculated it including the budget for rice and beverages so that’s around $500 a month. Well, we certainly have to eat and we don’t want to scrimp so much in this area of life that our bodies will suffer.
However, we are trying our best to spend a little bit less of our money on food so that we can use it for something else. One of the helpful tips is to make a list of those things that we buy most often and the stores that we shop at most frequently and start noting what’s cheapest where. My hubby and I are such a meat lover, good thing our church worker who also cooks food for us loves to cook vegetables so we were able to save money in buying meat and dairy products.
I am also trying my best not to indulge in buying expensive cookies, crackers, chocolates and junk foods. It’s really hard for me since I love eating these foods but I have to stick on our grocery budget. I have to determine the reasonable amount of money to spend on groceries each week or each month and make it sure to stick to that amount.
Setting a food budget is one of the most important thing to do in order for us to save money on food. I know it will help us to learn how to spend money better so that we were not able to waste it and we can eat healthy on our budget.
