Balancing Work and Life for Self-Employed

I just read an article from BBC news about a certain couple named John and Sherry Petersik who runs a successful blog about their life at home. They are both earning money out from their blogs. Its good to know that both of them are blogging while they can stay at home and raise their child.

The Petersiks now work full time at their blog, which offers do-it-yourself projects, home renovation tips, and profiles of reader redesign. The success of their blog has allowed them both to work from home and raise their two year old daughter, Clara. The Petersiks published a book of home-improvement projects.

Though the Petersiks in the past have made revenue through paid writing jobs and private design consulting, the majority of their income now comes from advertising on the site, either through Google ads or through direct site sponsors.

With regards to spending time with their family and home life, they always make sure they spend their weekend family bonding time together. According to them, they still need to experience life, and have a happy marriage and happy family to make the business work. I totally agree that breaking away from work is tricky no matter who you are, but for those who work from home can find it exceptionally difficult to carve out personal and professional time.

Chicken Proven Business

Have you heard of a street food called chicken proven? Well, if you’re not familiar on it yet, its a chicken innards marinated, coated in an egg and flour and deep fried in hot oil. Here in our city, Chicken Proven is very popular. It is a delectable street food sold almost anywhere in Cagayan de Oro specially during night time. If you walk in some streets in CDO, especially Divisoria, Carmen and Cogon, you could see people gather in stalls very busy eating this kind of street food.

Chicken proven is traditionally dipped in vinegar or a vinegar and ketchup mixture. Some vendors offer various sauces according to the amount of chili in the sauce. The more chili there is, the hotter the sauce. Vendors also differ in how they serve proven.

We actually have our own chicken proven business and we started a few weeks ago. However, we stopped for awhile since we noticed that the income is quite less than what we expected. It is because its still summer time. We are planning to place this cart near the school. We also need to have some beverage drinks as pair for the chicken proven along with rice. Hopefully soon the business will be back when the classes starts in June.

Rent a Car Business

We hired this van during our whole day tour in Bohol. The rental fee is $85.00 and we were able to visit the famous tourist spots of this place. It was a good ride because aside from the fact that we were able to have fun during our tour, the driver also serves as our tour guide.

Ive come to think about the advantage of having this kind of business specially in Bohol. This place doesn’t have taxi’s. They only have bus and pedicabs. The most popular and in demand transportation is the rent a car or van for hire. There are a lot of tourists who come in this place and I could see the high profit of income that we could get specially now that summer time is approaching. Many foreign and local tourists will flock in and would definitely rent a car so that they will be able to tour around Bohol.
