Back to School Budgeting Tips

The month of June is quickly approaching and its also a time for parents to prepare a budget for their children who are going to school. Since its back-to-school time, the smell of new school supplies and flowing cash of down payment for tuition is already here.  While families spend on what they need, parents must also work with their children to determine what they really don’t need.

Some of the budgeting tips that you need to do is to start early, and take time to get ready. It doesn’t take much to turn the school’s supply list into a full-on shopping list. But you can do better than that. Before you buy even one notebook, estimate how much you can afford to spend overall and what the costs are likely to be. Don’t leave anything out! It’s better to know ahead of time if things will be tight.

Think ahead to find the best deals. Be on the lookout for the big back-to-school sales and go early. Even the big stores can sell out at the last minute.Shop the sales. It seems that sales for back-to-school gets earlier and earlier. Watch for coupons online and in-store promotions to look for deals as well.

Bills, Bills, Bills

Gosh! If only we have the freedom either to pay or not to pay our utility bills, then surely I would choose not to pay it. But we certainly have to since it is our obligation and we the ones who are using it. I just hate it when disconnection notice comes and I’m getting jittery how I could pay them within 48 hours. I don’t want to get disconnected on my internet.

It’s even more important that I should pay our electric bill. How can I continue doing my blogging task if we don’t have the electricity? LOL! I don’t have a credit card that’s why I pay all my bills over the counter. It doesn’t matter if I waited a long line waiting for my turn to pay because it is such a relief whenever I am able to pay all my bills.

Ideas To Save Money While Traveling

Are you looking into taking a much-needed vacation? Good for you! You’ve earned it and you deserve the best break possible with these tips in mind. But that doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune on a trip. Here are some tips for saving money while traveling.

  1. Pack light

Many people tend to over pack, whether it is for an over-nighter or a two week vacation. Don’t make that mistake. Save a bundle on airfare for luggage. This means, lay out each outfit so that you can re-wear and mix and match. After all, most of us only wear our very favorite clothes when out and about. We want to look and feel good, so naturally we only wear the best jeans and dresses from our suitcase. You can also wear heavy clothing items on the plane or in the car so you don’t have to fit it in a smaller suitcase.

Forgo packing any toiletries. They will come with your hotel or wherever you stay, and you can always buy some for cheaper than they fly. Make sure to pack light so that you don’t have to ship things home when you’re staying in different places and trying to take your things with you. Along with this, pack a few essentials in case you get stuck at the airport, like a good book and music with as adapter to charge in other countries.

  1. Stay And Eat Cheap

Forget the hotels for a few nights, and find a friend or relative to stay with. This can save and become one of the best parts of your vacation. At someone’s home you will have the comfort of a home with linens that have assuredly been washed, free food and shampoo, and even free or split-cost meals. This is not the cheap way to go. It’s frugal and can help build up old relationships.

The important point to remember with this money-saving tip is to say thank you for someone who goes out of their way to help you save a few bucks. If you stay with an old friend you can send something like Mrs Fields Thank You Gifts for their generosity and hospitality. With a solid sign of appreciation you can be invited back and avoid feeling guilty for crashing at someone’s place. There are so many gifts to choose from, so you can find what is in your price range, and personalize your gratitude. After all, what is sweeter than a load of cookies and brownies famous fro their goodness?

  1. Research Your Destination

With a little bit of work spent researching the area you’ll be in, you can save lots. Look up museums and attractions as well as how to get to them. You can find the least expensive way to go and maybe even some coupons or Groupon’s to help out. This way you can maintain the flexibility of what you’re in the mood for while being prepared with a list of things to do.

So save money on your trip today with these simple tips. They can help you not only save money but also end up with a more rewarding and enjoyable vacation by planning ahead and getting out to see things that you wouldn’t otherwise have seen. It can also help you re-unite with those friends you’ve wanted to catch up with but haven’t for a couple of years.

Do You Spend More Money on Food?

A large percentage from our business income was actually spent in buying foods. Aside from the 3 of us in the family, we also have some church workers and they are also included in our food budget. We usually spend around $7 a day for the viand alone. I have calculated it including the budget for rice and beverages so that’s around $500 a month. Well, we certainly have to eat and we don’t want to scrimp so much in this area of life that our bodies will suffer.

However, we are trying our best to spend a little bit less of our money on food so that we can use it for something else. One of the helpful tips is to make a list of those things that we buy most often and the stores that we shop at most frequently and start noting what’s cheapest where. My hubby and I are such a meat lover, good thing our church worker who also cooks food for us loves to cook vegetables so we were able to save money in buying meat and dairy products.

I am also trying my best not to indulge in buying expensive cookies, crackers, chocolates and junk foods. It’s really hard for me since I love eating these foods but I have to stick on our grocery budget. I have to determine the reasonable amount of money to spend on groceries each week or each month and make it sure to stick to that amount.

Setting a food budget is one of the most important thing to do in order for us to save money on food. I know it will help us to learn how to spend money better so that we were not able to waste it and we can eat healthy on our budget.
